Check-a-chip.co.uk was launched in 2011 to help vets, rescue centres, dog wardens and pet owners across the UK identify which database holds the registration for a particular MicroChip number, using our expertise as a MicroChip supplier and database with over 25 years experience.
From 2016, as part of the regulations for compulsory microchipping of dogs all compliant UK pet microchip databases have been required to provide access to other compliant databases to identify where a microchip is registered.
When you search for a pet MicroChip number, the system automatically checks all compliant databases to complete a real-time search to identify which pet MicroChip databases holds the registration.
No personal information is shared from one database to another, simply the registration status of the pet MicroChip.
In the event that a database is not contactable when the search is performed we will display this to you for you to contact them separately or try again. Likewise if no search results are found, we will attempt to display the contact details for the most likely database. The UK PETtrac Database is dedicated to reuniting missing pets with their owners – that’s what we do 24 hours a day, 365 days a year!
But it is not just about providing this service, it is about providing a good and reliable service that vets, rescue centres, dog wardens and pet owners can all rely on.
In making the service provided by PETtrac the best it can be, we constantly develop and improve and try and make things just that little bit better
