The Irish Terrier Association was formed in 1911, the first president being the Marquis of Breadalbane, with Vice Presidents including HH the Maharajah of Jind, The Right Honorable Lord Granville, The Lord Dewar, Major General Sir Foster Newland and Colonel Sir Edward Ward. Eventually The Right Honorable, The Earl of Longsdale became president and retained his interest in the association till his death in 1944
