Travelling with dogs and even sometimes cats – How can we plan for a calm drive

It’s not unusual to see people on their holiday routes sat in cars outside motorway services or swapping places to go for a toilet break or pop for some refreshments not wanting to leave their four legged friends in the car outside.

So we are adding the most pet friendly service stations to our directory to help our fellow animal lovers and their furry family have a more enjoyable experience finding these places has not been easy and research has been ongoing we add new places all the time and the search is still going strong.

Our best advice for trips is to look at your route and check our directory to see if there are any pet friendly locations nearby such as pubs, cafes, picnic areas or service stations you don’t always need to stick to service stations there are so many beautiful locations and small businesses dotted around the U.K it’s amazing how many nooks there are and little scenic locations right under your nose that you just do not hear about.

63% of dog owners said they put their animal’s comforts before their own on travelling so it’s only right we try our best to help these wonderful pet parents to find a relaxing and stress free environment to support them on their travels.

Other useful tips we offer are take a portable “she wee” or other such items encase you are caught short, bottles of water and some blankets encase you ever break down, always secure your animals before travelling although we pray you never have an accident it’s always best to be prepared for the possibility always have your microchip details on your pets up to date. If you have a dog that suffers with travel sickness ginger dog biscuits could help settle their tummy or travel sickness medications from your vet and try to keep your inside temperatures low especially on hot days.
